| Adcroft Surgery has been involved with Clinical
Research work for several years. Dr Hole is the lead GP in this
area and has conducted research for the last 18 years supported
by Sister Jill Wood and the other partners in the surgery.
These
trials are important and almost every drug used today has at some
time been researched in this way. This not only leads advances in
therapy but enables more information to be available to the pharmaceutical
industry for future research.
All trials are conducted under the scrutiny of the Bath Local
Ethics Committee and National Ethics Committee.
Many of the products we use are developed as a comparison to existing,
commonly used drugs.
This stage of development and research , involve all drugs which
have been fully laboratory tested and used extensively on healthy
volunteers before reaching the surgeries and general public. Until
recently most trials were conducted in hospitals but nowadays with
the advances in general practice more can be done at a local level.
Some of the current trials being conducted are into the following
conditions:-
- Diabetes
- Arthritis
- Indigestion
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
If you are interested in taking part in any of the above please
phone Sister Jill Wood on 0844 477 8988 extn 623 who will contact
you if you are suitable for the study.
